The Benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture
The ancient practice of Acupuncture originated in China approximately 3,000 years ago. Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that aims to stimulate the flow of Qi (energy, pronounced: chee) in the body by inserting needles into one or multiple points on the body and/or face.
By stimulating Qi and allowing energy to flow freely through the body we are helping the body to function optimally.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is an extension of the traditional practice which has many benefits for the overall health of your body and the appearance of skin.
Remedy’s Acupuncturist, Thalia, begins the treatment with a Traditional Chinese Medicine Symptom Diagnosis, where your tongue, pulse, and limbs are examined while your lifestyle and emotional factors are explored. Thalia will then place needles in the hands and feet followed by needles in the face. As the needles are inserted they create “positive microtraumas”; this sends your skin into repair mode, stimulating the production of collagen. Overall the microtraumas created stimulate the supply of nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, improve the elasticity of the skin, and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
Whilst the needles are in Thalia provides a foot massage, followed by the removal of needles and Gua Sha (facial massage). The Acupuncture needles used are very fine and surprisingly relaxing, this is the perfect treatment for those who are busy as it allows the body time to relax and restore.
